VISION
“To be an oasis of hope and love to all generations, by making Jesus attractive and building an irresistible church.”
The vision explains what the culture of the house is and must be.
Oasis:
• A fertile rich land, well-watered, life-giving gathering place that provides refuge, relief, sanctuary, and safety to all who come to it.
• Oasis’s are often surrounded by desert, so it is the place of refreshing and retreat for those who are looking to escape the scorching heat and dryness of the desert. It is a pleasant place in the middle of somewhere unpleasant; a pleasant change from the usual.
• For TG this is our essence. We seek to be a place of refuge, relief, refreshing, and safety in the presence of the Lord for all who gather to worship with us.
• “We are a life-giving church, pleasant, safe church.”
Hope:
• Hope deals with salvation, help, and trust. Those who have hope have exception of better things to come, ambition, trust, faith, confidence, and optimism.
• This is one of the most immediate pleasantries that is meant to be seen and felt in the Oasis.
• When people come to Truth Generation, they should feel hope from us that gives them hope. They should feel that they can trust us, that help is here, and of course that salvation is here by Jesus Christ. We Hope in God and teach others to do so.
• “We are an optimistic, joyous, and energetic church.”
Love:
• Love is our deep affection, great interest, and desire for Jesus that creates the same feeling for his people.
• The love we share is agape, which is affection, good will, benevolence, and brotherly love. It has been given to use Jesus Christ and we share it with each other.
• This is another immediate pleasantry that is meant to be seen and felt in the Oasis. When people come to experience the presence of God, we want them to feel wanted, accepted, loved, and safe. The vision is to build a place like this for Jesus and his people.
• “We are a warm, welcoming, affectionate church.”
All generations:
• A generation is all who are alive while you are alive. One can only be apart of the previous generation after they have died.
• We are wanting to build a gathering place where all people alive in our time can come. All ages, all ethnicities, all demographics, and cultures.
• We envision being a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural church that has a harmonious blend of expressions and experiences.
• “We are a diverse, adaptive, relational church.”
Making Jesus attractive:
• This has a two-fold meaning.
1. We want Jesus to be attracted to our church and tribe. We want him to have an affection, a strong desire, and interest in us as his bride and his body. The intent is to please, serve, and represent him in a way that he feels compelled to be with us, dwell with us, and give us his presence and power each and every time we gather. We don’t want him to ever be able to resist our church. He is attracted to us as a husband attracted to his wife.
2. We want to make Jesus be attractive to people. We want to honor, Love, respect, and represent him in such a way that people are attracted him and want to get to know him because of how well we represent him.
• We must be conscious at all times that we represent Jesus and we will do all we can to never embarrass him or his name. We want to draw people to him, not run them away.
• “We are spirit-led, worshipping, bible church.”
Building an irresistible church:
• This ties into making Jesus attractive. We want the church to be irresistible to him. Our Father and our Friend should always want to dwell with us, be with us, commune with us, and fellowship with us.
• We want to build a church that is irresistible to those who are meant to be apart of it. The tribe members who are meant to be here will feel the same irresistible feeling that we want Jesus to feel concerning the tribe.
• The nature, atmosphere, and environment of the church should be one that draws and attracts, one that is contagious, one that is embracing and enticing, so that we can create the best opportunity to win souls to the kingdom.
• “We are an attractive, relevant, family church.”
